No interest loan scheme - The No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) offers individuals and families on low incomes access to safe, fair and affordable loans for purchasing appliances and some other essential household expenses.
NILS is offered by more than 175 local community organisations in over 600 locations across Australia. To find your nearest loan provider go to the NILS website.
The NILS scheme offers loans of up to $1500 for essential goods and services including:
• fridges and freezers
• washing machines
• computers, laptops and tablets
• text books
• car-related expenses
• some medical and dental services
• some other items as requested
NSW - For eligible residents of NSW, NSW gov are offering discounts on new energy efficient fridges and televisions.
When you replace your old, inefficient model, you can receive:
• 40% off the cost of a fridge
• 50% off the cost of a television
To receive this offer you must be a NSW resident, over the age of 18 years, and hold one of the following:
• Pensioner Concession Card
• Health Care Card or Low Income Health Care Card from Centrelink
• Veterans' Affairs Gold Card
QLD - If you live in QLD you are eligible for a redemption up to $300 when you purchase energy efficient 4 star or above washing machines, refrigerators or air conditioners.
Rebates will apply to purchases on or after 1 January 2018 of the following household appliances:
• $200 for a 4 star energy rated washing machine
$250 for a 4 star energy rated refrigerator
• $300 for a 4 star energy rated air conditioner.
VIC - The Whitegoods Appliance Rebate of $100 is available for eligible Victorian concession card holders to help them buy energy efficient fridges and washing machines. The rebate is available through the No Interest Loan Scheme, the Brotherhood of St Laurence Progress Loans program or the Good Shepherd Buying service.
WA - Regional households in Western Australia, living outside the South West electricity grid, can receive up to $400 in rebates for energy efficient appliances including air-conditioners, fridges and freezers by participating in the Regional Energy Efficiency Program.
