What maintenance costs can I expect with a HWHP?

Periodic water heater maintenance can significantly extend your water heater's life and minimize loss of efficiency. Read your owner's manual for specific maintenance recommendations for how best to maintain your HWHP.
For example:
  1. Regularly inspect the air inlet and outlet of the heat pump. Remove any foreign objects or blockages to allow the air to flow freely
  2. In order to maximise the life of the hot water system, it is recommended that you flush the system every 5 years
  3. The valve easing gear on the relief valve must be operated gently at least once every 6 months.
  4. The sacrificial anode (if present) must therefore be inspected and replaced (as required) every 2 to 5 years depending on the supply water quality (about $70 + install or DIY)
