What is AEF's role in Sustainability Victoria's Small Business Energy Saver Program (SBESP)?

The Program has been designed to provide a range of offerings to eligible small businesses, including:
    • a Bonus (capped at $2,000 per business) to subsidise the cost of eligible energy- efficient upgrades.
    • advice on energy efficiency.
    • information on other Victorian Government offerings, including Solar Victoria’s Solar for Business, the Energy Compare website and SV’s Sustainable Finance Tool.

Who's Eligible?
Upgrades are available to small businesses across various sectors including hospitality, retail, accommodation, healthcare and professional services, and small-scale manufacturing.
Small businesses must:
• have 1 to 19 employees
• have a commercial (non-residential) premises.
NB: This program is not available for primary producers in agriculture.

What’s on offer?
By choosing to upgrade to new energy-saving equipment, business will proactively take the next step toward becoming energy-efficient and climate-proofing their work premises. Victorian small businesses with 19 FTE employees or less can receive up to $2000 to install energy-efficient business equipment at their workplace. By switching to energy-saving equipment upgrades offered by the Small Business Energy Saver program, businesses can save 15-20% of the upgraded equipment’s annual energy operational costs. Small business owners can leverage the savings from reduced energy bills to focus on growing their business.
NB: The bonus amount depends on the equipment you upgrade, and the exact amount that a business will need to pay for an approved energy efficiency improvement will depend on the number and type of energy upgrades undertaken.

Eligible equipment as follows:
  1. heat pump, solar or gas hot water systems
  2. reverse cycle air-conditioning systems
  3. water efficient pre-rinse spray valves
  4. low-flow shower heads
  5. refrigerators and upright freezers
  6. refrigerated display cabinets
  7. fan motors in refrigeration systems
