In Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia your installer is meant to switch off your solar power system after it has been commissioned. This means you get no solar benefits while you wait for the new meter to be installed.
If the smart meter hasn’t been configured, the electricity will still go to your household and to the grid but there is a risk your electricity won’t be properly recorded and old meters can start running backwards
If your electricity retailer sees your latest electricity meter reading is lower than the previous reading they can ignore it and send you an estimated bill based on your previous consumption.
