There are 2 main ways:
1). Your solar panels use the sun’s energy to generate electricity that you can use to power your home. This reduces the amount of electricity you need to buy from your energy retailer.
2) When your solar panels generate more electricity than your house is using at the time, the extra energy can be sold to the grid. Your energy retailer will pay you for that electricity via a feed-in tariff
